    It pays to be nice

    I always believe in praise where praise is due, and that as well as complaining we should do more in the way of encouragement when companies/people get things right.

    Fairly recently I have made a few complaints to companies when I have felt that the product/service is not up to my expectations. However, I have also sent emails of praise to companies when the opposite is true.

    One such email was sent to a company that make herbal teas (my favourite is in fact their ginger, lemongrass and gotu kola tea) and this morning I received an email in return, thanking me for the encouragement and feedback and would I supply my address as they'd like to send me some free tea!

    Be nice people - it pays.

    That is nice of them Wayne. Madmax and I always go out of our way to report helpful staff when we are shopping. We bought a BBQ at Tesco at the start of the last Bank Holiday weekend (lucky us got a really great bargain) and the staff were super-helpful. Didn't get any offer of free food from Tesco though

    I have recently made a lovely wine from herbal teabags - they are Raspberry, Cranberry and Elderflower. The wine is gorgeous - tastes just like the herbal tea but alcoholic

      I have complained to Sainsbury's before about compostable bags splitting when taken off the roll and other bits. They always add nectar points to my account.
      Once we bought a 24pk of coca-cola a few years back and one of the tops had a sharp bit. We phone coca-cola and they sent us a package to send the can back to them with. In return they sent £20 vouchers.

        I do mystery shopping in my spare time - and believe me - i praise good service when I see it. I see so much really really bad service that good service shines through.

        One company that always gives fabulous customer service on a gardening front is Real Seeds; absolutely bloomin wonderful people.

              I sometimes do this for a client also, my last 'hit' was on a Life Coach Training company, my report was accurate to what I found, it painted them in very good light .....please please tell me they won't send me a free Life Coach

                  I agree with your philosophy Wayne. And I believe in karma too!
                  I send a Christmas Card and a thank you letter to shops/companies that give good service.
                  I also post links to those companies on the Grapevine (Beans and Herbs is but one)
                  I like to do random things too, like leave a bouquet of garden flowers on neighbour's doorsteps (or a bag of courgettes )

                        Another thing I used to do, when I applied for free samples of stuff, was type in my friends and neighbour's addresses, so we all got some (free tea, coffee, fabric conditioner etc. this one is for Philly: Philadelphia Extra Light Fit Club )
