The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

Lived in Kent most of my life; but seem to have forgotten many of the lovely gardens we used to visit. What about the Garden Organic site at Yalding? It's reopened with new backers.

I would suggest Sissinghurst. Lovely gardens in a glorious part of Kent, and very good tea rooms too. It's a National Trust property so if you're not members you will have to pay....but worth it IMHO

Cripes; of course Sissinghurst; only used to live there [in the village] once upon a time!!! Lovely cream teas from what i remember.

Plus you can visit Bumbles farm shop on the way to Staplehurst as you pass by...to stock up on fresh fruit/veg

Someone recommended Groombridge Place the other day.

I've not been to Kent, but whenever I wander round large gardens the only bit that interests me is the veg plot.

We we're down in Devon the week before last and spent 4 lovely hours in RHS Rosemoors 65 acres which incidentally was on Gardeners World a couple of nights later.

I'm a big fan of National trust gardens, they generally have a walled vegetable plot, and I always enjoy a good natter with the gardeners there about what they are growing and why. They normally have some heritage varieties on show, and there are always a few tips or ideas to take away.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Well went for my day out but not what I expected.Tried to convince her indoors to visit a garden[since her stroke2 years ago and losing the sight of one of her eyes] its very hard to get her to go out.Any way we ended up at the the local Farming World and it was not what I expected.Loads of local produce Jam,Honey,Wine,Cider and Beer[YEEEESSSSSS!!!!!].Apart from the local breeds of Pigs,Sheep and Chickens ect the best bit was the Birds of Prey, what a show even had a Red Kite sit on my head! They even do a falconery course, how much fun would that be.Any way grateful to the OH for a great day out

Bit late now Cloud, but I love Great Comp, down Seven Mile Lane, (West Malling direction). Its got wonderful mixed borders, wooded areas, follies to climb up so you get different views of the garden, they've got a tea room and a fantastic nursery.

I have wonderful childhood memories of it, and I took my OH a couple of years ago and it still has that special something about it.
