  • Lost the plot

Went to a very large company garden centre the other day all I really wanted was Greenhouse shading or at a push a bottle of Cool glass not that difficult you would think. Wrong! no such luck I could have a meal there, I could buy birthday cards till they came out of my ears, I could buy matching pink watering can's to go with pink wellies and pink pruning shears but no shading for a greenhouse. These places are supposed to be garden centre not full of nick knacks and sweets. I really think they have lost the plot. Do they think we all go around in pink gloves with a basket on are arm OK rant over just a little thought of mine.

I agree, our local one sells all sorts of tat, it has ye olde crafte shoppes, pets, a children's farm, an adventure playground, expensive china, clothing, an over-priced cafe, jars of 'posh' jam, books, 'specimen' plants, silk flowers....... try and buy anything that requires getting your hands dirty though and you'd be out of luck. It's the way the market is though, I suppose, a nearby bog-standard plants, seeds and compost type place has recently gone out of business.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

It does rather seem that some garden centres have gone all "trendy" for want of a better word. A lot of our local garden centres are like the one you've described. As for getting cool glass - try windolene - I've used it for a couple of years and it works fine for me! Good luck

            Oh dear....

I have pink gardening gloves (3 pairs) a little pink plastic trug thing, pink trowel, fork and secateurs; pink kneeler pad, pink wellies and a pink fleece .....

Admittedly, nearly everything has been bought for me as a present, by people who know I a) like to garden and b) like the colour pink. So they go into their local garden centre; fight their way through the posh jams and boiled sweets, photo frames and silk flowers and spy something that is pink and gardening related, so they buy it....
