  • Perfect Day.

Today is my OH's 50th birthday (how did I end up married to an old man? ) We planted a new cherry-tree this morning, then collected our grandson and set off for a distant garden centre - they have a childrens' farm so we were not being too cruel to him - we bought some seed potatoes for the new second lottie, ate a cream tea then came home to find a parcel waiting for me (a late mothers' day present) which contained lots of lovely eco-friendly bath goodies. Now I'm off for a long soak in scented water, then we're going for a Chinese meal with no 2 daughter and S-I-L, to a place where not only is the food delicious, but they have a really good house red.

A really lovely, simple, but perfect day. I hope my 50th is as good.

            Sounds wonderful
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I wouldn't normally post a thread like this, but I was just so happy yesterday and the real point was that we did such simple things. A few years ago spending time with a two year old at a garden centre would have seemed a bit of a wash-out as far as birthdays go, but we had such a good time. The tree planting is something of a family tradition as my grandad always planted one for significant days, but more for things like VE Day and the coronation than for birthdays. Last night's meal was lovely too though.

People overlook the pleasure to be had from simple things Bluemoon. Glad it was such a lovely family day.

I am (so far) having a near-perfect day:
                    • cuddled all my pets before leaving them for the weekend
                    • spent a total of 7 hours gardening today
                    • topped up my tan (in the garden/on the bike)
                    • I didn't get covered in paint at school
                    • the hayfever seems to be under control (Piriteze)
                    • had the most serene bike ride home (8 miles) through beautiful countryside as the sun was going down (apart from the d!ck who overtook me on a blind bend - yes, there was a car coming in the other direction
                    • Mr Sheds and I have agreed on a house ... fingers crossed for an actual sale this time, not 4 months of d!cking around.
                    • I have Allotment Stir Fry for my tea (my own leeks, cabbage, PSB, spring onion, radish, French beans (dried), chard, chives,
                    • Madonna's new album up loud on the decks (Mr Sheds is away )

I wish everyone else a suitably sublime evening.
