  • Small shallot glut

    We've got about 4kg of shallots that we've separated as they aren't as big as we'd hoped for chopping in sauces etc so looking for some alternative ideas or recipes.

    Thinking of using whole in casseroles or roasting. Also wondering whether shallots would be OK pickled instead of onions.

    You could replant them for next year.

      We always used to use shallots for pickling - much better than onions I think.

        I use small ones whole in cooking. Saving some as sets for next year is a good idea too.
