  • Freezing pears?

I have been offered a load of pears, and want to make various preserves out of them... however, there are more than I can reasonably deal with in a day.

Since all the recipes call for them to be peeled, cored and chopped; can I freeze the pears in this state?

And then cook from frozen when making the jams etc (like I would with frozen berries?)

    Ta muchly!

I can't see why not.....they all get mushed up anyway when you cook them.

        You certainly do!

I am making pear wine; I picked a load of Perry Pears off the ground at work and juiced them the other day, and will pick another batch this week to make up the gallon volume.

If you want to make jelly, DON'T peel or core!
