| I think rhubarb snapps with lemonade sounds quite delightful. Hugh fearnsley whittingstall has recipes for several rhubarb cocktails in the river cottage year book. is this the way to make the younger generation like rhubarb do you think? PS How do you make rhubarb snapps? |

| ...Rhubarb schnapps with lemonade and even coke works well.... I assume you mean the brown fizzy liquid & not the expensive white powder Andrew

| I've just looked up the recipe for Schnapps and it seems quite starightforward. A bit like the old gin thing. Equal volumes gin, fruit and sugar, shake the bottle around every so often for six months or so then strain and bottle. This works with blackberries, plums, damsons, passionfruit and raspberries. (probably others too, this is just tested to date - in the interest of science I'm thinking of testing apricots and nectarines this year)My father in law tried chilli vodka and left the chilli's in for six months - I'm thinking I might be able to dilute it and use it as weed killer |

| Why would you want a drink that blows your hat off & burns everything it touch's Or did he save this for people he didn't like

| Hi All! Ok, so I will back of with the distilation thing, but you can use high alcohol tolerant yeast to create 15-20% by volume alcohol content wine . You could do this with rhubarb and make a drinkable rhubarb sherry in say 6 months. It would be as strong as schnapps but would cost about one tenth of the price of using shop bought Vodka. I am just trying to lower your costs for the same amount of fun. |

| Hey Andrewo/Brewer, maybe we should all have a go at both, and meet for a drunken ramble and sing , both of which I am good at when I've had too much

| Hi All, I am getting very confused here. The last time I logged on for a quiet peruse of your posts about Gardeneing(Hah!) I thought I was on the wrong site as the conversation was about sex!! Albeit between ladynirds etc. but it was abit of a shock to the system until you realised that. Now I think I'll have a little peruse on this lovely Sunday afternoon to find you all swapping recipes for Booze, and something about expensive white powder!!!!!!. I am sooo looking forward to my next visit??????? Seriously though guys keep it up it does make me smile. |
