Hello all, have recently moved house [October 2015] and shock horror there was no veg patch !!"
There is front and back garden dedicated to lawn and flowers and very well kept. Fortunately there is a separate patch behind the detached garage approx., 25 ft sq, gravelled over and an old shed leaning seriously to starboard. Have removed the shed and gravel together with weed suppressant material that covered the enter area. Have dug over the patch and found some well rotted organic horse manure kindly given free locally and incorperated it in. Have also erected a 10 x 6 ft lean to greenhouse against the garage wall. In early November i sowed a load of broad beans [Aquadulce] outside to get under way. Normally these will stop at about 6" or so but due to the warm December they continued to grow an stand about 18" making them vulnerable to wind but they are okay. Have just sown some radish and rocket im the greenhouse, a bit early but no patience.. and some shallots outside. Also planted summer and autumn rasberries, red and black currents and a blackberry. Now just itching to get under way with all the usual veg inside and out cant wait for the main season to start. That's all folkes..

Hi benedict and welcome to the Grapevine
Wonder how long it will be before some of your lawn is turned into veg and fruit beds?

Hello Benedict & welcome to the vine, Pop a few canes against your beans until this stoopid weather sorts itself out.

Hello Benedict and welcome to the Vine.

Like you we moved last year (Nov) so I have been (well the OH under supervision) sorting out the teeny weeny garden ready for the mad seed a thon that is about to happen.

And like VC said the front lawn will be toast by the end of the year.
