  • Newbie from Essex

    Hi everyone
I've just joined the forum and we were lucky to get a plot 20m x 8m last October. So far have replaced some of the structure - shed, composters etc and are now starting to cultivate the plot. Unfortunately it is very heavy clay and quite low on a site near a river so with all the rain and the high groundwater levels, the plot has been extremely wet over the winter. Seems like a huge challenge, but am looking forward to picking up lots of tips and advice from some seasoned plotters!

                            Welcome to the vine!
I am close to Essex too and go that direction often (Chelmsford, Witham, Wickford, Dagenham)
If the soil is heavy, I would go for raised beds as majority of edible plants need good drainage and they are easier to maintain.
