Default New to the vine

Hiya

I am not a newbie in the garden, but have been lurking in here for a while and thought I would join.

I live on the Kent/Sussex border, with a south facing back garden.

I don't really do flowers, a few fuscias out the front and some marigolds for random placing in the carrots.

I have 5 raised beds. 2 are 120 x 120, 1 is 120 x 240 and the last 2 are 120 x 360. I have a greenhouse which is 11 x 8 and a strawberry bed which runs the length of the greenhouse outside.

I have some raspberries, tayberries, blackcurrants, gooseberries and rhubarb at the top of the garden and the rest is turfed, albeit looking very shabby and mossy under the trampoline.

I grow spuds in mail sacks all around the edges of the garden, this year I have mayan gold, salad blue and highland burgundy red.

Runner beans grow up a fence behind the raised beds.

Tomatoes go in the greenhouse and some in pots on the patio.

I am a total seed hoarder and have far too many for my own good!

And I got my first cherry tree today.....hup hup huzah!

There is loads more, but I can talk about this stuff all day and I will bore you all witless!

MrsB

Welcome to the grapevine. We're all hopelessly addicted to seeds. Magical little parcels aren't they?

Welcome to the Vine, Mrs Bond. Your garden sounds bigger and more productive than my allotment.

Thank you so much for the lovely welcome....and yes indeed MrBond is married, and he makes MrsB the most fantastic engineered cane supports for runner beans, raised beds or anything that is asked for etc etc!! I think he humours me for the sake of peace, love and tranquility!

I forgot to mention the compost collection which includes 2 dalek style compost bins, a green johanna, a green cone and a pallet style compost heap and a worm farm.

And this year I am planting 'by the moon'. That is not sowing seeds at midnight whilst howling and growing 'interesting' body hair but using the sidereal moon aspects to pick the best time for garden activities.
