Default new today

HI, I'm Melanie and live in East Sussex - I've been 'playing' at growing veg over the last few years but my partner and I have dreams of going self sufficient and buying a nice field somewhere! So we decided that if we were to make this a reality as part of our grand plan we would have to start paying some attention in class and understanding what grows where, when how and what goes wrong (PLEASE see my post under veggies!!!). In addition we are going back to college to learn about chickens, sheep and everything else.

At present we have spinach, toms, squash, french beans, spuds, carrots, beetroot, peas, strawberries, chillies, peppers, courgettes(ish) and a pumpkin all battling for space around our patio and in my very small greenhouse! (image to be posted when I suss it out!).

Looking forward to chatting and exchanging info and stories!

Sorry but I couldn't help thinking of the rerun we saw last night of The Good Life.

Welcome and wish you all the best in your studies

Hi Melanie

we have much the same idea we have a largish garden, only started growing fruit and veg since may this year seem to be quite good at it lol
we are growing much the same as you plus chickens, not actually growing the chickens they are ex battery got them about 2months ago we get approx 8 eggs every day soon all the family will be clucking instead of talking lol. we would love to be self sufficient so hopefully next year we will be able to grow most of the fruit and veggies we will need will be having a large polytunnel by then so can grow much more than this year

would love to find a bit of land near to us o have a couple of pigs

heres to the good life

Saffy
