Hi guys/gals I'm new around here I'm currently living in a flat so itching for outdoor space to grow some bits and bobs, unfortunately I've settled for the window cill and started to grow some scotch bonnets (heat lover) I got the seeds off ebay and planted them around mid May, I now have around 10 4ft+ plants absolutely full of chillis, they are all still green and I'm dying for them to ripen but they have been this way for at least 4-6 weeks and don't show signs of changing, anyone any ideas when they will become ripe? I've taken one off and cut it up but it has the taste of a pepper but no heat.. Anyway I'm going to go have a good look round the forum.

      Hi and Welcome.

I'm in a flat too but I got myself an allotment last April. It is my garden and my santuary and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

        Hi and welcome.

There was a thread the other day about ripening chillies and I am stuffed if I can find it (sorry). I remember one suggestion was putting bananas near them. If I find it again I will post it on here for you.

I hope you have fun looking around.

Hi Waney, I love growing chillies but my family hate them! My scotch bonnets are also now inside on windowsills, small and all green, they take ages to ripen. Have a little patience and they will ripen in time. When inside I find they are more prone to fungus gnats, try not to overwater and water from the bottom. Have a search through the threads there are some good ones on overwintering chillies: here's one to start you off
