Hello and welcome to the vine
I would suggest a piece of paper to draw stuff on and make lists. I do it all the time then you can always tinker about with it. It also helps measuring stuff out.
Have you got anything on it at all?
If there is a shed on it then that's good but remember if you don't like it where it is you could always move it.
Any plants there that don't fit into your plan then just get rid.
Thought of raised beds or just keeping it as it is?
Get to know your neighbours. They can often offer good advice and let you know what has been grown there in the past and any problems that have been there.
I'm a bit of a novice on the growing front but I think you can still plant kale.
Just asking where abouts are you? It often helps with questions and answers from other Grapes
Anyway welcome again and hope this helps

        Hi and welcome.

You can get overwinter brassica plug plants from garden centre or some of the independent green grocers and autumn planting onions and garlic.

Get down the library and get some books and get reading? When you say novice how novice are you?
