Grow Your Own Magazine

Just joined l've been garden for a while ,but not very well having problems with my spinach this year, l have grown for years but this year they are going to seed very quickly.
l sow new seed every 4 weeks so l'm not short of food but anyone who as any ideas on keeping it growing longer please tell.

It's not you....it's the weather!!

Our spinach/swiss chard/sorrel/spinach beet are all bolting!

Keep nipping out the flowers and cook the top growth- maybe if we have a cooler summer/autumn it'll just about recover????

Welcome to the Vine Roger. Nicos is right. It's the hot, dry weather to blame. Spinach is famous for boulting. You might get on better with perpetual spinach (spinach beet).
It works well for me.
Some things are better grown early and late to avoid the summer heat and spinach is one of them.
