  • Morning all...

    Hi everyone,

I'm Denny, 38 and I'm a complete novice at gardening, that felt like I was standing up in an AA meeting or similar...! . Anyway, I've recently decided to grow my own veg and possibly a bit of fruit if space allows in my small back garden. My 7yr old son (Luke) is quite enthusiastic about this new venture and I feel it's vital he learns where and how vegetables are grown (I wish I'd learnt what my Dad was trying to teach me all those years ago...!). Lukes School have their own garden and they are planning to grow flowers, veg and fruit in it so I thought, If he's doing it at School he can do it at home too.

I bought a "grow your own chillis" kit yesterday and they have been sown, little fella wanted a Venus fly trap so he got one of them...!

Anyway, plenty of questions are going to be asked so any help, even the tiniest amount, is greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Denny (and Luke)

I haven't yet met the kid who doesn't like peas out of the pod, so you need to buy several hundred of those ...

Hi and welcome. Great bunch here with loads of advice and help.
I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Both love going down to our allotment to dig and plant stuff out.
So welcome both of you and remember just ask away on the question front.

Hello Denny and Luke and welcome. I still love eating peas from the pod - strawberries are good for nibbling too.

Not yet...I haven't actually got anything in place yet. As I have a small garden I'm looking at using raised beds and maybe square foot gardening. As soon as I'm sorted I'll bung a few pics on.
