  • Hi from a novice in Leicester

Hi all, just had a raised bed and shed bed installed, waiting on the potting shed. The bed was filled with top soil, do I need to do anything with it before planting. All I.ve grown before is toms and leaves in a grow bag so pretty much a complete novice.
Hope this becomes a retirement past time, Cheers all Tatts

Hi and welcome to the vine

What you like to grow might affect treatment of the soil. So what would you like to grow?

Hello Tatts and welcome to the Vine. Always a good start for new beds is a liberal sprinkling of rotted manure to introduce beneficial microbes. It'll attract earthworms too.

Hello and welcome to the vine Tatts, you need a couple of composts bins either home made or bought that way you can use your own compost to top up the bed.
