  • Hi from the middlelands..

    Hi all,
    Firstly, what a great forum!
I have been lurking around the forum for a week or two and decided to take the plunge.
My wife and I are complete novices around the garden and we hope to eventually be able to feed our family nice homegrown fruit and veg.
We have a south facing garden, with a small polytunnel a few small raised beds and plenty of room and scope for improvement.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings I'm off to soak up some info from all these threads!!

    Cheers
    Nat

What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
                    Pumpkin pi.

Wow! thanks for such an amazing welcome, don't worry there will be plenty of questions asked!
As I mentioned previously, our aim is to supplement our shopping list whilst providing food we know the origin of.
We have 3 kids, two sons 15 &7 and a daughter 12 and as well,as provide tasty nutritious food we want them to understand where it comes from.
We had a large allotment a few years ago(too big for us really) and although we couldn't afford it the time and effort it deserved( as lou's dad was diagnosed with Althziemers) we managed a fair crop of spuds, onions, cabbages the first year but decided it would be better to let someone else have it and use it to full potential. we also had a mixed flock of free ranging chooks (31 at last count) but a rat problem and the fact that our dogs preferred chicken poo to dog food, helped to decide to rehome the chooks.
We both really enjoy cooking too so can't wait to trawl through the recipe ideas too.
                        Regards
                        Nat
