  • Hi everyone

John here living in Blackpool with my girlfriend.. Got our first greenhouse arriving on thurs.. Already got lots of chillies, toms, rocket and aubergine going.. Is it too late to get a cucumber going this year? What else would be good this year? Thanks.

Hi John and welcome! I don't know whether you've time to start a cucumber but the summer is so late this year its would be worth a try - or pick up a plant from a garden centre!. How about climbing French or runner beans? Or courgettes and squashes? Or salad leaves?

Hi veggie chicken, thanks for your reply. we've got courgettes and salad leaves going, strawberries too. Fruit bushes are well matured and my pear tree is bearing lots of little fruits.. Was thinking about the cucumber plant from the shop as you suggested. My greenhouse is 8'6x6'3.. Can't wait to get in there.. I'm a chef too so nothing will be wasted.. Got some nice chillies going.. Aji limon is going fantastic.. Was thinking of heating the greenhouse too. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers

Hello, John and welcome. I'd love a greenhouse but I don't currently have anywhere to put one.

Hello John and welcome to the Vine. Sounds like you've got a lot of stuff growing already - well done. You'll love the greenhouse. Personally I don't heat mine but I know others that do.
