It's funny how quickly I've became addicted to my garden, it started off as part experiment, and in part trying to get my little one to try new foods( my thinking was if he sees it grow.... He might try it)
Anyway failed miserably at both, my 1st attempt, cleared an area planted some seeds (badly) &...........everything either got eaten by slugs or destroyed by the neighbours cats. Now it should be known that I'm very stubborn so 2nd attempt built myself some temporary raised beds with chicken wire screens to stop cats and layer some slabs and traps around for the slugs.... Got some results mainly easy stuff lettuce, radishes etc so proceeded to ask my little boy if he'd like to try any, to which I get.....yuk dad you must be jokin, they were in the mud....he's coming up 6 goin on 16.
However I've found that I actually really enjoy what I've got, and am in no doubt going to make every mistake possible......ie, my blow away greenhouse that did just that (one of those tube framed, plastic sheeted jobbies but I'm loving every little learning curve at the moment.

Sounds great Mozer. Your little lad will soon learn what's good - try him with strawberries
We all know about those blowaways Gives you an idea though about what you can grow with a bit of extra protection from the cold.

Hello and welcome to the vine Mozer, sow some peas there's not many kids who can resist eating them straight of the plant.

Yeah, that's the plan like I said I'm stubborn, I will win him round eventually just been designing the layout of the garden, with the wife, and managed to blagg myself some extra footage, with out her noticing. It might be a bit early to be thinking about this, but what would you recommend sowing next year, ideally ill have a proper greenhouse in place, and a 14ft by 20(ish)ft potential veg garden.
Ideally I'm looking for a good selection of basic stuff to start but wouldn't mind having a go at one that's maybe more difficult or time consuming, any ideas or suggestions would be great

                      We are very friendly Mozer.

                      Welcome to the forum.

I am also a relative newbie to veg, but I would grow whatever veg you like eating.

We have spuds, onions, salads, garlic, brassicas, salads, cucumbers, salads, and I am being adventurous this year and trying some fruit bushes and salads.

Did I mention the salads? They are dead easy to grow...

Hi Mozer. I am to having the same problem with my son and started growing veges in the hope my son would try them. This only worked with the lettuce, but now i have the problem that he will sit and pick it all and eat it all and leave none for me! Now i've been left with the growing bug and i want to grow everything, only problem is my garden isn't big enough!!

Bit of a daft post but hey ho, joined back last year but haven't been around for a while and not posted much as been nursing myself back to health after stupidly injuring myself in work, so just to say hello again and hopefully without the long vacancy
