  • Hi all, coming out of the woodwork

Hi! I read these forums a lot but haven't really posted that much - apart from when I don't know what type of plant I've been given is!

So a bit about me; I don't have a huge gardening area. I have a lot of plant pots crammed wherever I can squeeze them in on conservatory windowsill.

I especially enjoy herb growing - and always sow too much!

I also enjoy the art of bonsai, but always end up killing the trees I buy. I just bought a baby conifer today, so fingers crossed I can keep this alive!

    So yeah, that's me. Hi!

A very warm welcome to the forum, dear Planter.

Hello again Planter - and welcome
You can never grow too many herbs!
Never tried Bonsai - I don't have the patience - wish I did. Any photos of yours you'd like to share?

Unfortunately, they all died. I have my new conifer in progress and trying a thyme bonsai just for fun. It's only little at the moment - this is from last week when I started it.

Maybe I should try this! I have baby oak and ash trees springing up all over the place. Then I wouldn't feel so guilty every time I pull one up

I'd say go for it. You'd have only pulled them up anyway!

Hi there...lovely to see you back!

I have tried doing bonsai on a couple of plants and I managed to kill both of them....I know there are at least a couple of grapes who have bonsai, hopefully they can give us some tips!

Hi Planter and welcome to the Vine. I have three oak bonsai(ish) trees planted from year 2000 acorns. They're left to their own devices in nine inch pots and have stayed at about 14 inches tall.

Hello planter.my son has grown a couple of horse chestnuts from conkers collected last year and I was thinking of turning those into bonsai .Would the leaves get any smaller or would they just look disproportionately big?

I bonsaied a horse chestnut many years ago, had it for 25 years and the leaves did eventually get smaller.
