  • Hello!

I'm so excited, just been told by the local council that I have got one of the new allotments that should be opening in June. I'm on waiting lists at various other sites but then the council piped up that they were actually opening a new site, how often does that happen???
Anyway just wanted to say hello as I'm going to be on here asking constant questions.

Hi and welcome to the vine Becky!

It's great to here that your council is trying to meet the demand for more alloment sites. Where abouts are you?

I'm on a small private allotment and it's amazing and addictive - just like the vine.

      Hi Becki

Thanks! I'm in Erdington, Birmingham and the plot is in the Handsworth area, about 10 minutes away. I can't wait to get started although I will have missed most of this years season.

No Way! You've got loads of time, I started off my courgettes and squashes last week and they're up already, and lots of things can go straight in the ground. We all seem to start seed sewing really early on here, but sometimes we regret it. You'll be amazed at how quickly things sewn now will catch up with early sewings. You'll be fine!

Hi Becki and welcome to the Vine
We have relatives near Erdington or four oaks. Great green spot to grow crops.
          Good luck
