  • Hello from yet another (it seems) in Aberdeen!

Hello everyone, I have recently taken on a plot in the city - Aberdeen - and I'm pretty new to gardening. I've grown spuds and onions in the past, helped out with my granddad's plot when I was a nipper, but this time I aim to be a little more adventurous.

My plot is half sized, soil is in good nick and the most of it is in full sun (when it shines)! I've inherited a plum tree of unknown variety, and I have so far got some strawberries, rhubarb, potatoes, onions and garlic planted in the ground, and some lettuce and leeks in modules. I have a small and cheap polytunnel as well, which I'm hoping to attempt some melons and peppers in, and I have a plan for some kind of herb garden bubbling in my head as well. Some of the herbs are invasive though, so I'll most likely grow these ones in pots.

If anyone in Aberdeen reads this, I would like a little advice. I'm originally from the warmer region stuck to the bottom of Scotland known as England. What kinds of fruit/veg have you tried to grow up here in the tundra, and how successful were they? Cheers all!

Aberdeen seems to be a GYO hotspot - or should that be coldspot? I'm sure some of your friendly neighbours will be along soon with comfort and cuppas
