  • Hello from sunny Scotland

    Hello everyone,

I have been reading this forum for about a year now so its about time I registered!

This year is my first year growing on an allotment which I got the keys to on the Easter weekend.

I had some fantastic luck as the previous plot holder must have left in a hurry and the plot was in an excellent condition.

I inherited a shed, 2 apple trees, 2 pallet compost bins full of useable compost and a plot that was covered with tarp which made it really easy to weed!

Its quite a small plot at 70 sqm and about a third of this is taken up by the compost bins, shed and apple trees.

I am currently growing Carrots,Courgettes,Sweetcorn,Leeks,Rocket,Turnip,Potatoes,Tomatoes,Chillies,Swiss Chard,Beetroot,Onions, Kale, Broccoli,Calabrese,Pea's and French beans. (and probably a few more I have forgotten about!)

I look forward to pestering you all with questions lol!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm from Kirkcaldy in Fife which is on the east coast so I don't have to contend with the worst weather Scotland has to offer.

I'm just back from my plot and took some pics.

Its just a small allotment the size of 4 plots and unfortunately the plot to the right of mine and the half plot in front are not in use so they are very overgrown with grass and weeds(I'm tempted to ask for other 1/2 plot and I have only just started!) .

I have had plenty of courgettes the year but today was the first time I have seen a courgette flower open so I took a pic
