  • Hello from sunny Cornwall

    Hi All

My name is Paul and we -My Wife Jules and I- have a tiny allotment in Cornwall.

We try to grow a variety of fruit and veg but we like to experiment with alternative growing methods and don't really grow things in rows.

I am interested in no dig gardening, using weeds as a resource, perennial vegetables, aquaponics and permaculture.

We recently built a geodesic dome greenhouse in which we are going to build an off grid aquaponics system so we can produce complete meals all year round.

At the moment, everything we do at the allotment is an experiment. We have a lot of failures but we are slowly learning and starting to reap the rewards.

I love talking about different methods of food production and learning from other's and that is why I have joined this community.

I look forward to getting to know you and sharing knowledge.

    Paul

Hi Paul and Jules and welcome to the forum.
Your "Tiny" allotment doesn't sound teeny tiny if you can fit in a geodesic dome. Look out for Starloc's posts - I'm sure he's built one too.
Any chance of some photos please? We're a nosey lot, especially me

Hi veggiechicken and thank you for the warm welcome. I will have a search for Starloc's dome. It is always nice to see other people's projects.

Here are a few pictures of ours

        And me VC
I think that P&J have made a brilliant decision to join us here on the Vine which covers everything from the sublime to the re-dicci-doo=dalus.

However, on a serious point we will all learn from you two as you develope and experiment with your fabulous ideas. So thank you in advance for the things I am going to learn off you both!

Wow, Paul. I have serious dome envy now. Will be interested to hear how the off-grid aquaponics system works. Thanks in advance

I'm confused...I'm sure we've 'met' Paul here before,
I remember you building a veg plot in a blue barrel (that was you wasn't it?)

Perhaps I saw all that on your blog...no wait...I'm sure I found your blog from seeing you here

Hello and welcome and don't worry about the Muddled One
I'm another one for not growing in rows - some stuff gets neatly put in blocks but lettuces and beetroot and the like get bunged in wherever there is a space. Radish and spring onion seeds get scattered. Weeding is a NIGHTMARE ...

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I did post some pictures of the build of the dome but that post seems to have disappeared.

I am having a little bit of trouble with this forum and Chrome so i am having to use firefox.

I don't think I am already a member on this site but I have posted things about the blue barrel garden on quite a few forums so you might have seen it on another forum.

Sorry Paul, your post with the photos had been blocked by the system - they've been approved now
I use Chrome so you should be OK with it. Maybe because you're a new member and don't have all the "privileges" yet
Seems I have to apologise to Muddled too about the Blue barrel garden - Sorry Muddled how could I think you were confused

Did you make the panels yourself, Paul, or is it a kit?
