  • hello from sunny Ayrshire!

hi folks, have been looking through this forum for a time and decided to give it a try.
I have enjoyed gardening more for the exercise than growing things, and what I did grow was mainly flowers, but now that I have stopped work and taken up child minding, to fill in the time I decided to try growing veg. As I have also given up hill walking recently the one thing that has grown is my waist size. I have made the choice to go with raised beds and use a no dig method, so hopefully I can let you all know how I get on.
ps. the sun was out for a couple of minutes this morning!!
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Hi rary - welcome and enjoy.

You will probably find the exercise and healthy eating will help keep the weight in check, but even the peace and quiet of the allotment cannot compensate for the loss of that feeling of exhilaration you feel when standing on top of a remote mountain top in the Scottish Highlands.

There`s a question-mark about the exercise as I intend to try a no dig method of gardening, but you are so right about the exhilaration when reaching a mountain top I especially loved the feeling of being first up to the top in winter.
