  • Hello from not so sunny Donny

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first year growing veggies, I managed to convince my OH to give it a go and we bought a 6x6 ft greenhouse, and created 2 planting areas in the garden 1.8m squared. I have had some successes and many failures and feel like I have learnt so much in my 1st year but mostly it has been trial and error as I didn't know what I was doing (and didn't even know this site existed) so hoping with help and advice next year will be better, I've subscribed to the magazine and decided to spend more time planning rather than chucking a few seeds in the ground and hoping for the best.

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello, any advice for a newbie would be greatly received :-)

Hello and welcome to the Vine. The main thing about gardening is to relax and enjoy it.

There's lots of information in the existing threads on the site, but any special queries then start a new thread.

Hello and a very warm welcome to the Vine We've all made mistakes and will probably continue to do so, but that's part of the learning process. Good advice always to be had on here, so ask away.

Welcome to the vine vegandmore. you'll get lots of helpful advice here. One of the best things about trial and error is that every success is a triumph and any failures are a learning experience you never forget

Well everything we planted has worked! Peas, beans, fennel, herbs, beet root, carrots onions, garlic, sweet corn pumpkins strawberries, raspberries gooseberries. In poly tunnel tomatoes cucumbers cucamelons, melons and tomatillos. Some stuff worked more than others. But it's a new garden that's not been cultivated for years and years so expecting next year to be a lot better
