  • Hello from North East Aberdeenshire

    Hello everyone,

i've been reading your posts for over an year now so I thought it's time for me to say hello and introduce myself.
I have a long and narrow garden and I garden mainly in raised beds and containers due to the poor , sandy soil. Although I have been gardening for years , I only ventured into growing fruit & veg last year. Had few successes ( raspberries , salad greens, spring onions, cornichons, beetroot, carrots , lots of garlic but some failures too ( I cannot get radishes to grow anywhere in my garden and the french beans were a disaster last year ) . So I'm looking forward to picking your brains this year

                  Hello!
I'm just under you (as it were) in Dundee.
I like your raised beds, they look lovely. Also is that a cherry/apple tree I spy in the first picture?
I've got some stepover apples in their first year that I'm nursing along.

I'm not far from Peterhead at all .

No, it's not an apple. ( good luck with yours ) It's a hornbeam , i've got about 9 various trees in my garden. Because is so overlooked I planted them in certain places. I even got Leyllandi ( I know don't throw tomatoes at me ) they will be cut to a tall column shape and once their 10' I'll snip their tops.
Yes, I've been snooping for a while hehe

Haha, I wouldn't throw tomatoes at anyone - far too rare in my garden! We're currently demolishing a Leylandi hedge which the previous owners dumped a summerhouse in front of, so they are brown all the way up

I'm quite jealous really, I like trees but we don't really have space for them, they'd be inside our windows or plonked right in the middle of the lawn.

Have you sown anything yet? I think I'm getting a bit ahead of myself and have sown far too many things. The sweetpea shoots are taking over my hallway
