  • Hello Everyone!!

    Hello Everyone!!

I`m fairly new around here!! I have earlier this year taken on a bit of garden that I plan to use as an allotment. It is right at the end of my drive so VERY convenient. It had been left for about 10 years and was totally overgrown. It has taken me the last few months (working at weekends only) to get it reasonably under control.

I have to say although it has been very hard work I have REALLY enjoyed the process of preparing the beds and clearing the Brambles, Weeds, Trees, Bushes and rubbish! I have 2 beds that I am preparing for next year and then this time next year if all goes well will probably prepare another 2. I have managed to obtain a Greenhouse from freecycle and hope to have that up in the next few weeks.

I am sure I will have loads of newbie questions in the coming months!! So any help advice will be very much appreciated!!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I've moved your post into "Introduce yourself" so that more of us will drop in to say Hello!
You've made a fantastic different to your "allotment". Look forward to seeing more photos as you progress.
Amy questions, just ask. There's always someone who'll know the answer, and others who make it up No really, sometimes I don't

Not sure Cad, I was just going to ask you if you want us to move your post. I'll mention it to Admin, there have been a few funnies going on.

Hello Simon and welcome to the Vine.
You have already done a brilliant job but pull up a chair and get stuck in to the threads that can help / laugh even more.

Thanks all for the warm welcome.....sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

I do have a newbie question to kick off with........

I have prepared 2 beds ready for next spring. I have dug in some well rotted manure and currently have them covered over to prevent weeds growing......it seemed sensible???? My plan is to add a bit more manure at the beginning of December and then leave covered until early in the new year when I a going great to uncover dig over and prepare for planting in the spring.

                              Good plan?
