  • Hello Everyone

    Hello,
My name is Becky and I am (as the username suggests) from Glossop in the beautiful Peak District.

This is only my second year growing and I only had about 25% success with my veg plants last year but that has not deterred me. This year I am attempting purple sprouting brocilli, butternut squash, sweetcorn, chillies and lots of salad leaves. I might have another bash at beetroot again too which did not go too well least year (I think I forgot to thin!). I'm also attempting parsley from seed, have a new coriander plant on my windowsill (which I'm sure I'm already killing!) and a flourishing mint plant in the garden.

As you can see my lack of knowledge and experience is outweighed by my enthusiasm and ambition.

I'm really glad I made the decision to join the forum as I love asking more experienced people questions, and I think my local garden centre are getting sick of me! I have lots of veg growing books but I tend to find them a bit jargony and I think nothing beats asking passionate growers.

    Anyway, thats me.
    Best Wishes
    Becky.

Hi Becky welcome to the vine
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Hi Becky - welcome! I'm a bit to the east of you in Lincolnshire

By the way, I find parsley so temperamental to germinate, so I buy the living pots of parsley in the supermarkets, break them up and plant into a big pot. Works better for me

We love answering question here we also like lots of photos

If you start your beetroot off in pots or trays you can prick them out and plant up individually. what chillies are you growing?
