  • Hello everybody!

Hello everybody, I am from Assam, in the North-east part of India; I had loved gardening, mainly vegetable gardening, when I was still studying in the early seventies ; as soon as I took up work, my gardening hobby went into virtual hibernation until my retirement last year; last year I did a reasonably good crop of cabbage, spinach and tomato; this year I got a little adventurous, and tried experimenting with some new crops that are unconventional in the tropical areas that I live in, like Capsicum, Leek, Brussels sprouts. The Capsicums, the red and yellow varieties raised in large pots of 16" diameter, were coming off very well, but my total inexperience ensured that all the fruits were in the end lost to heavy fungal attacks as I failed to give the plants worthwhile protection against an intensely long tropical sun and incessant rain. However, I am gearing up to make a go of my Capsicum hobby this time round.

Hi Pulinc and welcome. We gardeners are all alike, we all want to grow plants more unusual to where we live. You are growing temperate plants in the tropics, while here in the UK, many of us try to grow tropical plants in temperate climes - you'll fit in here fine!
