Hi there,

I'm half way through my first ever year of veggie growing and got some good beginner's tips from reading this forum as a guest, so I figured I should do the decent thing and join properly.

Considering I don't have a garden, I'm very proud to have just eaten my first home-grown beetroot. Delicious too! Amazing what you can do with a couple of 1m x 1m raised beds in the communal car park.

Looking forward to learning heaps as a official forum member now

I'll post some pics when I get chance so you can either continue to be impressed or alternatively point and laugh!

It's a constant challenge to see how much car park I can colonise before the neighbours complain. At the moment we have an unspoken agreement where they don't complain about my pots and raised beds and I don't complain about their kids' ball games. Seems like a fair compromise to me.

So far I'm growing carrots, spring onions and beetroot in one raised bed. In the other I've got some curley kale, turnips and swiss chard. I've got assorted small pots with lettuce, rocket and butternut squash (not doing too well). My hanging baskets - which once had flouncy flowers in them - now have tasty (I hope) tomatoes in them.

Interested to hear what you're growing (and how) since it seems we're in a similar situation.
