  • Hello from Bicester

    Greetings!

I have been growing vegetables since I was a small child and got my first plot about 8 years ago. Last May I managed to get an allotment fairly close to my house, but it hadn't been looked after for 4-5 years prior to me getting it. After a lot of hard work last year I am now looking forward to a productive season.

I started a blog when I got the allotment and that has lots of pics on it - that can be found at myplot6.blogspot.co.uk...

This year I already have garlic (elephant, early purple wight, solent wight, and provence wight) red & white onion sets, shallot sets, and broad beans that I overwintered. My overwintered peas failed to germinate. In the last week I have planted 8 asparagus crowns in my new asparagus bed (I plan to grow more from seed) and my potatoes are all chitting away at the moment.

Other things that I have on my list for this year are:
Sweetcorn, Swede, Kohlrabi, Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Leeks, Beetroot, Courgettes, Pumpkins, French Beans, Runner Beans, Parsnips, Carrots, Radish, Spring Onions, various Salad leaves, and Cucamelons!

      Quite a bit really
