  • Hello....Another newbie post :-D

Hi everyone. Thought id jump in and introduce myself.
Im going to start by saying, I have absolutely NO IDEA what I'm doing. Past year or so, ive been growing random things around the garden, some with great success, some with mediocrity. Nothings a failure though, because if it doesn't fully succeed, at least I gives the bees a playground, and feeds my chickens.

Just now ive got a few wee things on the go, but not a lot of anything. Chillis, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, sweetpeas, aubergines, broadbeans, cucumbers, baby corn, various herbs.
Cherries, green and black gooseberries, raspberries, black currents, gogiberries, strawberries.

I also have 7 atlantic pumpkin plants, that im REALLY hoping come good with the fruits :-)

Anyway, I poddle about and see what works. ive got a wee bit of ground next to my coop, im going to fix up for next years plantings etc. So ill bounce around the forum, learn what I can, probably ask some totally ridiculous questions, and hopefully get something sustainable thrown together. Failing that, it'll still be useful as a jungle gym for Pea & Ham, Rouge, Storm & Mystique, who wee affectionately refer to as The X-Hens.

Add in three dogs who think all things planty are there simply to roll in to make them smell nice, and its going to be a lot of fun.

As I read elsewhere, you all like pictures, I've attached some of the birds, their palace, the veggie pond. I whack up some of the other stuff I have going tomorrow :-)

Glad to be here, pleased to meet you all.

Hello MrLocke and welcome to the vine.

7 Atlantic Giants - must have a large plot then Are you after BIG pumpkins? If so then only let one pumpkin develop per plant and nipp off any additional fruit once the first has set and s growing well. If you're not after big fruit then next year you may want to look at smaller fruited varieties with better flavour and easier to store and cook.

Sounds like you've got a nice plot going - and a great attitude to growing it. Does "Pea & Ham" not get miffed that her sisters have all the cool names?
