  • Four years late introduction

    Hello all.

I actually joined this forum back in 2013 when I was thinking of setting up a bit of a veg growing area in the garden. I then got hit with knee problems, sometimes locking up for weeks, leaving me on crutches most of the time. Although I have arthritis in both knees, I am able to get about a lot easier now so it is time to get back to planning what little space I have to not only enjoy the growing process but as an additional hobby as I retired last year.

My name is Graham but I am better known by my middle name Patrick or more often Paddy. I live in Peterborough UK and my garden is far from ideal but I have the choice of forget it or try and make the best of what I have. I decided to try and make the best of what I have.

This year is a rehearsal for next year but I have some nice herbs starting to flourish as well as beetroot, garlic and the usual salad stuff.

Lots to learn, many mistakes to make but I have to start somewhere

Hi Paddy, pull up a chair and make yourself at home
Herbs, beets and salad - sounds like a very good place to start. If you have success with those you can grow anything
        Happy gardening

Welcome, have you room for raised beds? would make gardening easier by not having to bend so far.

Many thanks for the very warm welcome folks.

I do have a very low raised bed (?) and I plan to add another. Bending and kneeling isn't too bad, getting up again amuses any onlookers though....

Not a lot of space but I have just taken delivery of a 6x4 greenhouse. Nothing posh but I am really looking forward to having a cup of tea in it when it's raining. Might even try growing stuff in it as well

Thanks again for the welcome and no doubt I will have questions but I also have a lot of reading to do. I think this forum will be a goldmine of information.
