Default Introduction

Hi Im Decca an allotment holder for 30+ years where I have grown veggies and dahlias for the show bench.
Look forward to discussing all aspects of gardening on allotments and hope to learn new techniques as well as pass on some of my experiences of growing and showing.

Hi Decca and welcome. We have complete newbies here and people like yourself with loads of experience. It's a great balance. Keeps us oldies on our toes! What are you growing this year? Anything unusual?

Hi Flummery thanks for the welcome looks like you are well into veggies. I am concentrating on show veg this year with long carrots, parsnips, onions, leeks, celery, and cauliflowers being my main subjects. These veggies are worth a max of 20 points each on the show bench when judged by the National Veg Society which is the top mark so I will keep you posted how they are doing. At present the parsnips and carrots have germinated and I am now planting the leeks. The onions where planted two week ago in the polytunnel. Not all the show veg will be winners so the ones that don't make the grade will be eaten and they taste really good.

well thats all for now talk to you later.
Decca
