  • Turmeric?

I bought some Turmeric root the other day, used some and have loads left over.

Has anybody grown it in UK? If so, what did you do?

We don't have a greenhouse, just one of those little 4 shelf plastic things and a cheapo cold frame.

"you can use shop-bought turmeric roots to grow your own plants. Plant the root 10-15cm deep in spring in temperate zones, but it can be planted at any time of the year in the tropics and subtropics. Feed plants with Dynamic Lifter or another manure during the growing season, and keep plants well watered. When it gets ratty looking at the end of autumn or in early winter in temperate zones, cut it down to the ground. It will re-shoot in spring."

I might give it and ginger a go this year.

Oops, I'd forgotten about this question, and we used all of that lot of turmeric. I can get some more though, from the Chinese supermarket. I'll try growing it, probably late winter/early spring and see what happens.

      Thanks for the links.
