definitely leave them well alone. I grew probably a dozen last year, and they really sorted themselves out no problem, and they are handsome plants now. Lemon Thyme is just gorgeous, but that will be propagated from cuttings.

sorry for not replying sooner I tend to think that supermarket herbs are too 'forced' and sappy. You may get results, but I'd be inclined to start from a Garden Centre bought one, they're much more woody and hardy in their growth, and I have a feeling they'd strike better cuttings, personally.
