Do you mean sweet peppers or chilli peppers? I grew both last year from seed which I germinated indoors on a windowsill, then put them in a greenhouse. Now is a good time to sow.

I asked this and did a bit of research on it some time ago. Apparently the plant we get the peppercorms from is a large perennial grown in India. We can't grow it in this country as it doesn't get hot enough, even in a greenhouse!

To be honest, I'd love for this to be proved wrong though!

Have tried to sprout those on paper towel, didn't work for me

You can't grow pepper (white nor black pepper corn) from it's corn, they won't grow!
They are propagated my diving it's roots (with some shoots on).

lol, I know that now (did'nt google enough before the "experiment"), but then again, caught up in excitement over germinating seeds, I'm trying to sprout everything, cutlery, clothing, etc..

You have a fantastic warm climate there Norazina, you shoud be able to grow loads of aubergines, tomatillo, pepper, chilies, sweet corn, okra, etc with out any green house.

Btw, one of my friend is also from Baku but she don't like growing edibles

well, you will not see many people interested in real gardening in Baku, guess it's to do with the climate. It is actually very hot here during summer and a good weather lasts till about end of October, my only problem is wind, as our house is on top of the hill, so have to plan everything very carefully around the garden.

She told me that it can be baking hot during summer plus the sand storm was very unpleasant

She still don't like growing/gardening even after moved and live in Belgium

You could provide them some wind break, I sow this practice while having our holidays in Madeira, very windy Island but very nice.

your friend is absolutely right about the weather, however, having got a a garden to play with (finally), I'm absolutely determined to succeed. I have already checked some windbreak netting online, which should do the job.

My garden is actually non-existing at the moment as the construction is just about to finish. Should have everything landscaped and ready to go by mid-June, will most definitely post "before" and "after" pictures

Doh! So you did mean peppercorn! I think I must have assumed that you meant peppers as I presumed you can't grow plants from peppercorns. Well that is what I'm telling myself.

Might be worth a go, I think I might get some seeds - I love to experiment with unusual plants, especially when they're usefull.
