Has anyone ever grown lavender from seeds? And is it easy to grow? I already have a lavender plant but I didn't grow it.

I bought two packets of lavender seeds from the jersey lavender farm this year and although sowed some seeds it was late however I have managed to get five plants potted up for next year.
A tip is they do not like good soil just keep plants well drained and they should with a bit luck come true.
As well as that the seeds are cheaper than buying established plants in pots

If you have lavender and you want more of the same - take cuttings. Even cheaper than seeds

Lavender grows easily from seed - my Lavender "hedge" self seeds in the bed alongside it ...
But, for my money, I would obtain one/several Mother Plants of known, specific, preference and then propagate what you need from there. They will all be consistent and have the same, specifically bred-for, characteristics of the parent.
I bought a dozen plants, all different varieties, grew them in a corner of the Veg Patch for a year, and then made my choice from that (still went with Hidcote in the end
)

One lavender I grow regularly from seed and which I love for its smell is Lavandula multifida, or the oregano scented lavender. It is small, neat and very pretty and can be treated as an annual or kept under a bit of protection and grown as a perennial. This comes very easily from seed and it is even easier to collect seed from the plants every late summer or autumn. I imagine you can treat any lavender in the same way.Comment
