  • Increase Nitrogen Fertilizer for Lettuces?

I'm going to grow some lettuces through autumn this year (in pots). I'll use the pots and the old soil that I grew my root veg in with some fresh compost and a blood/bonemeal fertilizer mixed in. What I'm wondering is if it's worth increasing the blood meal (perhaps by an extra third) to encourage more foliage or will I just end up harming the plant.

Anybody ever tried a nitrogen high fertilizer for increasing growth?

According to this, it appears to be a sensible idea to use a high Nitrogen fertilizer:

Cheers for that Bigmally. She recommends a 10-5-5 mix so I'll probably try that out. I think I'll add some vermiculite to keep the soil moist.
