Default Herb wheel?

I'm toying with the idea of a herb wheel! I reckon wheel will be about 8'0" diameter. What would be the most suitable tall-ish herb for the middle? Thought about a clipped Bay tree?

Any other ideas/recommendations particularily about setting up a herb wheel would be appreciated!

How about going for different colours/sizes of things in the 'spokes'? something like sage, mint, thyme (maybe low-growing), chives, parsley - basically whatever you like to eat/smell.
Borage, Dill/fennel grow quite large, and fennel is perennial, so maybe not on the wheel, as it can get huge.

One spoke large, one spoke small maybe? there are endless possibilities.

My herb bed is not so much planned as 'growed like topsy' which suits my approach, but I got half of a square bed planted last year, and will get more in soon.
Look forward to seeing your piccies.

Just taken over two rundown allotments with path up middle! What better way of breaking up the path than with a central herb wheel and a Victorian kitchen gardened themed lottie!

So sorry. I actually meant it as a compliment, sorry it didn't come out that way.
I have every faith in you and look forward to the photos, but this weather is more for planning. I do believe that dreaming is important before starting work, visualise, then actualise.

Fennel in the middle would look very pretty. Bay in a pot will need a lot of watering. Bay in the ground can get carried away. You will need to consider the heights of everything.

If you want something a tad different how about angelica in the centre. Again very tall and useful if the missus wants green, sugary stuff for baking

I'm tempted to make something like this - not this year tho'. This version includes a watercress pond! Would love to see yours when you've finished Snadger

Wow SS that would look fab wouldn't it and so much more vibrant and "organic".

Won't suggest that to Mr EB just yet.

Default Herb wheel

Hi everyone

I've been following this forum for ages and I think it's great! So full of fun and good advice. And today I finally plucked up the courage to join!

I'm planning to plant a herb wheel in the garden too. I bought a cart wheel off ebay a few months ago now for a tenner and I've just ordered tons of herb seeds. I like the idea of planting some angelica in the middle, so thanks for the tip Earthbabe

I look forward to seeing your herb wheel Snadger!
