  • Has anyone grown Stevia?

    Hello,

has anyone grown Stevia(it's a natural sweetener), I would very much like to know about your experience growing it, any advice on germination and how you prepare it for consumption?

I have found seeds for sale on the internet but a lot of reviewers say the seeds did not germinate, so I might be better off buying a Stevia plant if they're available in the spring.

    Regards, Dave

From what i can gather you get very mixed results from seed. One plant can be 100 times sweeter than another. Best to grow from cuttings appaerntly from a known quantity.
If I see any in the GC (probably next year?), I will have a quick taste, then buy a plant soley to get cuttings.

I personally think that it is a bit hit and miss and can be very sweet but might be a good project.

I have a plant a few years old that I grew from suttons seeds Suttons - Search Results for stevia . I really don't use it as much as I should. It goes out in summer and back indoors in winter. The best result I have had is stevia syrup the recipe is on WilliamDs blog https://grow-veg.uk/2015/10/11/late-season-flourishes/
