| Hello, I am new here and looking for advice please. I am a childminder and have entered my children in a competition "Making a mint". This involves growing mint from seed. We have followed the instructions given to us and have a couple of pots with seeds planted 2 days ago tied in a polythene bag. They are currently on my kitchen window ledge. Now my husband being a spoil sport has moaned about the pots being there, I don't really have anywhere else indoors to put them - would they be alright in the garden yet? I wouldn't want to ruin the project by moving them outside too early. Many thanks in advance. ![]() |

| I grew some from seed the pther year too. It took ages to germinate, was just just about to give up and chuck it away when I saw the first glimmers of green!! Tell your hubby gently that if the pots bother him that much, he could always get you a mini placcy g/house - focus have theirs reduced to 13.99 at the mo.

| hi just to reiterate what kirsty said above...i grew mint from seed and it took ages...maybe 6 weeks to germinate. i had given up on it but just left the pot in the greenhouse any way and was really surprised when they finally popped up. but, it was worth the wait, the plants are still going great guns three years later. |

| Mint as a competition for children seems like a really bad idea, as a kid I'd have forgotten about them long before they germinated. Once the seedlings are through though they just romp away, so just keep an eye on them and they should be fine. I have no idea what to do about the OH though - mine does as he's told, but then he has been married to a veg growing nut for nearly thirty years, I suppose he's used to it by now. |
