  • Garlic chives seed

When I was having a clean out of old seed packets I found a packet of garlic chive seeds from 2010. As i love the flowers on garlic chives I sowed the whole packet in a 10 inch pot not expecting much to happen. The instructions on the packet were to put into a propagator to germinate.
I didn't think they would germinate anyway so I didn't bother with heat and just left the pot on the summerhouse bench

Today I checked and it looks like every seed in the packet has germinated without any heat at all.

Well chuffed with my herb pot!

Much the same happened to me. I had several old packets of onions, spring onions, leeks etc - some opened, and I emptied them onto a GH bed, just because I couldn't throw them away!
There are lots of seedlings everywhere! I'll probably use them like chives

They are about half an inch high now but I hope they don't damp off because of the close proximity they are growing at!

They are hardy souls Snadge (as you have already seen!); I'd say they will be fine....
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
