  • Cumin

I am hoping to shortly receive a packet of Cumin seeds for next year. Has anyone grown it? How did you get on? Did you grow it for seeds to use in cooking?

I manage to grow Coriander without too much trouble, but would be great to be able to get some cumin seeds.

    Thanks

I tried to grow it once on my allotment in London. I failed! Apparently it needs fairly high temperatures and a long growing season. If that's the case I have no chance in N Wales now! Coriander, on the other hand, has always grown like a weed on both my allotments. This always surprised me as I thought it was a bit "exotic". Obviously not thank goodness.

Thanks volesatemypeas, perhaps that will strenghten my argument for the need to erect a polytunnel?

My purchase was more a 'let's chance it and see'...type of thing, but, any tips or notes I can crib might increase my chances of success

I assume you are not gardening in the Glyderau?

Do you mean you did not afford it adequate protection from predators? Just kiddin, slugs are a blinkin nightmare

I'm on the coast (as is my plot. Actually backing on to the beach) on the edge of Snowdonia and the Carneddau range. If that helps!? In Glyderau I might be restricted to alpine strawberries and nothing else! A bit too much for me up there.
