Default Any tips germinating sage and chive?

I've managed pretty well with my herb germination, bar the above and rosemary. For rosemary i'm cheating and going to a couple of small plants i'll take shoots off later, but what about sage and garlic chives? I popped them on my watered compost and didn't have much luck, which worked well with the rest.

Is the damp kitchen roll in a freezer bag trick a good 'on for these?

I found my sage hard to germinate on a windowsill, but now it's in a leccy propagator ... it came up within 2 days.

Chives are best by division of an old clump, not seeds. Just get someone to chop you a lump off. (My chives have self-seeded all around though) Or buy a plant for about a quid.

Rosemary is best from cuttings, not seed.

Sounds like I was lucky with my Garlic Chives, I just chucked them onto damp compost, covered lightly, popped into a plastic bag, sat them on the window sill and they were up within 10 days!!!

Have grown both from seed more than once in an unheated propogator on a window ledge in about April time. No bother at all but think that they don't like to be too cold and damp.
