Default Identify the herb?

I seem to have got my labels mixed up, as what I labelled as opal basil is in fact green, and smells of aniseed (thai basil).. and so I have no idea what the one I've labelled as thai basil is! From what I remember sowing it's either some kind of basil (maybe lime?) or else mint (which I've never grown before, so don't laugh at me if it's OBVIOUSLY not mint

Help?

I've planted opal basil and some of them have come up green, and variagated also anyway...I'm not sure what your herb is but hopefully someone will help!

Also...is it normal for opal basil to have a mix of purple and green? Does anyone know?

D

There are no mint seedlings in your picture - mint seedlings are tiny. All yours are basils of some kind. Bear in mind that lots of red or coloured plants don't develop their colours while inside; red lettuce seedlings, for instance, usually stay green till you put them out. You've probably labelled them correctly.

I grew opal basil from the same pack last year and i'm sure it was purpley right from the beginning, or at least tinged. this lot are 100% green. plus that aniseed-y taste...

The plants you have labelled as Thai Basil look exactly the same as mine so I think you have them right. Not sure what your Opal Basil is.

I recently sowed 12 modules of purple basil: two of them came up green, and some green with ever-so-slightly purple edges, so I composted them. It has happened in the past too, perhaps, like varigated plants, sometimes they revert?

Looking at the picture, they don't look like basil leaves to me... not sure what they ARE though :-)
