Hi all,

Has anyone read this book? It's about a dog and family life, I'm about 2/3 through, not reach the sad part yet!

That said I recommend it to anyone who loves dogs, it is bringing back so many current and old memories.

My best bit to date was the part where they left the list for the dog sitter, point being I was clearing the loft out a few weeks ago and found the list my wife left when we were going on honeymoon some 17 years ago, it was hilarious!

Anyway good read although I'll shed a tear you know when!

Yep, I read it too when it first came out, and yes, I did cry and laugh out loud! on occasions! A very good book for those of us who are canine lovers! Bernie

Yep, i've read it too. Absolutley LOVED IT! Had me laughing out loud & crying my eyes out too. Passed it onto my Mum & Dad now who are also dog lovers. Let us know what you think of it when you finish.

Daren't read it as we recently lost our lovely Labrador after he'd battled a long illness and it's all still too raw. A friend has read it and her copy is at her house waiting for me when (if) I pluck up the courage. But as things stand at the moment it's going to be a long, long time. She loved it though and could really connect to it - especially as she'd known our old boy well.

Hiya. I read it too when it came out. Lots of good stories about Marley. Yep, I did get upset (but then I do anyway) but a good story none the less. Bernie

I've read an excerpt from it and it made me laugh and cry. Deffo going to buy it when I get a chance.
Its upsetting in bits, but the love this bloke had for his dog shines through.

I Read it over christmas when I should of been decorating, It made me cry laugh and except what the pup was doing awsn't that bad at all, until he unpluged the chest frezzer!

A brilliant read especially if your thinking of getting a dog

As I started the thread I'll add another comment.

All you folks who have commented are in no doubt animal lovers, nuff said.

My first staffie had to be put down after 13 years, I left my strong wife in the room with the vet while I cried my eyes out in then waiting room.

My current staff is 3, dopey as **** and my baby.

What I'm trying to say is the book brings back good memories and makes you sad as well, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I read this book on honeymoon last summer and bawled my eyes out!! (very romantic: a great look!)
For anyone who has ever loved (and especially if they've loved and lost) a dog it just brings back all those memories.
It took me ages to pluck up the courage to read it, and, whilst it was terribly sad, it is a great read and just goes to show what a great life some animals can have when in the care of the right people. Yes it's awful when you lose them, but I'm guessing that the majority of us on here give our animals the best life possible, which is what matters at the end of the day.

As we have a Doggie topic going here, can I let you know that I have just posted a new thread about the dangers of cocoa bark to dogs. Sure you all know anyway but...

Just to let you doggy lovers know.... they are making a film of this book. Owen Wilson is in it.

Shooting (filming) starts soon.
