  • Homebase power tools

Spotted a thread on hotukdeals about this - seems to vary shop by shop but I went intomy local one and there were some very good deals on power tools - in this case Stanley Fat Max stuff which is generally well regarded for DIYers I think.
The tool I was looking at was marked down at £46 which was approx. £15 off rrp. The employee asked how I was getting on, then said if I take it now he can give it to me for £38. I hummed and hahhed and he said - "I'm not a market trader - so this IS the last offer £30" - I should have taken it but turned it down. Thinking about it now - I reckon I'll be going back tomorrow as there's a lot I need to do around the house that this would help with.
Of course tomorrow it will be
    a: gone
b: someone else on the shop floor not 'bovvered'
    etc etc
Anyway - there were lots and lots of corded drills, 18V cordless, spare batterries etc etc.
I just have a feeling that tomorrow late afternoon there might be even better prices - this stuff was taking up a lot of space where they usually have there Xmas tat.

I noticed a brand I am unfamiliar with in ours when I was looking for a cordless circular saw....seem to cheap to be true?

Decided to stick with Makita in the end....but that was £155

^^^ Yes yes yes... but I'm on a budget... have you seen pics of my greenhouse ?

If I recall correctly there were a few fat max circular saws in there for about £45 - not gonna be Makita quality but would do for me (when I'm cutting off the rotten ends of freecycled wood to jerry-rig a "pagoda" for a £2 grape plant bought from aldi)

The power tools have been marked down for weeks - some to half price.
Stanley, B&D, Guild, Bosch and Worx.
I had a long discussion with a man who was snapping up lots of tools who told me that Worx was as good as Makita but cheaper.
I nodded and pretended to understand!
There are some good bargains at the mo but they're being snapped up very quickly.
I picked up some long handled shears - like this but different make for £3.

Bashing it with a lump hammer is cheaper still (if you already have a lump hammer in situ and are lacking a saw)

As it happens I did see a good price on a hacksaw GL - I could be coming home with a bootload of tat tomorrow
(Even if its good stuff I'll have to ensure that SWMBO doesn't spot me)

I'm sure there were some reasonably priced pointy sticks - but I was too scared to get close enough to double check the price

I may be wrong - it has been known believe it or not... - I just had a feeling that at least in the Barnstaple branch - tomorrow is going to be the fire-sale day.
Probably wrong but I'll let you know how I get on. Probably be forced to go for a pub lunch instead...

Not power tools but I got 2 pairs of Stanley trousers marked down from £30 each to a fiver. I love the knee pockets to put knee pads in.

Not much great stuff when I popped in today - BM's trousers were on sale but wanted £15.
Anyhow - I've heard that the Stanley Fat Max stuff is discontinued at Homebase now so its probably worth popping in if you're near - I'll be taking a look again in a couple of days
(regret not gettng the multitool @£30 but hey ho)

I recently bought a load of opened bags of potting compost at £1 per bag from homebase. They also sell plants a lot cheaper than the GC's!

when I i say 'BM's trousers' - I'd like to clarify that they were (probably) of the type he forementioned.
I might possibly buy a pair of BM trousers for £15 if they were verified by BM ( depending on condition obviously)

Although I said I got 2 pairs of Stanley Baldy, on closer inspection one of the pairs is Dickies:

If BM's as big as his avatar you would probably fit into one leg balders!
