It's quite disconcerting that so many of these DIY warehouses are gradually closing down, what with BHS and the reduction of staff at Natwest Bank, and Lloyds Banks and my local co-op that has been there since I was a kid closing, it feels like there will be no shops of jobs left soon

And this has been going on well before the Britex malarkey

It's because they're big corporations, they have so many outlets they don't care much for staff or business sense, how a small business would,so profits drop they close down the shop. Happened to my dad when he sold his business but that's not closed down, but it could be if they're not careful like a real company director who cared would behave.

Homebase has been bought by Bunnings and they will be changing the types of stock that Homebase currently sells. Hence a lot of sale stuff and, I guess, some rationalization of the store locations.

I think online shopping has a lot to do with it Cad, I very rarely go in shops these days.

There is nothing quite looking at something up close and seeing it for real before you buy, I do online shopping, but there need to be a balance we are seeing a steady decline in retail outlets in the high streets and the smaller businesses with the resulting loss of jobs. I really don't want to do online banking, and I'm more than happy for the cheque book to remain with us.
